Our portable system, MovilQ Core 2 Duo, is continually nearing the power and possibilities of it's desktop cousins.

Built upon the specifications of the Napa Platform, it has a motherboard with chipset i945PM and an Intel Core 2 Duo processor (Merom) with two cores based on the successful Pentium M, with 2 MB cache and a 667 MHz bus. To complete the picture it includes the WiFi Intel PRO/Wireless controller 3945ABG.

One of the principal problems with using a portable PC computer as a DAW are video cards with shared memory, often installed by other manufacturers to reduce cost. It doesn't adversely affect the performance of a computer destined for only "light" office or internet work, but in audio it is of critical importance. The video card of the MovilQ Core 2 Duo is an ATI Mobility Radeon X1400 with 128MB of memory DDR2 and PCI-Express connection. By having its own memory, it doesn't block up access to the main system memory (RAM), allowing you to work with audio at low latencies without clicks or interruptions.

The low consumption of the new Intel Core 2 Duo processors with their careful ventilation via tubing with air outlet makes it one of the quietest systems around. And if that wasn't enough, we can manually deactivate the fan by simply pressing a button, without any risk of overheating as it automatically kicks in when needed.

The system also has a TFT Glare 15.4" screen (1.280 x 800), second monitor output via a DVI-I port, three USB 2.0 ports, and FireWire connectivity with Texas Chipset - important as it is tested to be compatible with all the major external soundcards on the market - Digidesign, MOTU, RME, M-Audio, etc. As you can see, we don't leave anything unchecked.
